The RPG genre is well known for the amount of free rein it gives to players. In Skyrim Special Edition, players have the opportunity to become a god in terms of the damage output they do. With a few exploits utilizing enchantments and potions, players can craft weapons that can do damage up to a million.
This particular exploit is meant for players who have progressed the main quest until after their meeting with the Greybeards. They must also disable the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch mod if they have it loaded because it may cause some things to not work in the exploit.
Acquire Alchemical Ingredients
In order to make a weapon that does a million damage, players will need to make three kinds of potions for the exploit. They will need approximately 30 Potions of Fortify Restoration, 6 or 7 Potions of Fortify Enchanting, and an equal number of Potions of Fortify Alchemy. Players will need to acquire certain alchemical ingredients that are found quite easily all over Skyrim.
Salt Piles are found in a number of locations throughout Skyrim. However, the easiest way players can get them is through alchemy vendors in Skyrim's various holds. These are required to make Potions of Restoration, so players will need close to 30 to 40 Salt Piles in total.
Once players have cleaned out a vendor's supply, they can save their game, and kill the vendor. After the vendor is dead, players must immediately load their save. This exploit causes the vendor to replenish their inventory, allowing players to stock up quickly.
Cyrodilic Spadetail / Abecean Longfin
Players will need to acquire either the Cyrodilic Spadetail fish or the Abecean Longfin for the Potions of Restoration. They need about 30 of the fish in total, which can be found in multiple locations.
The most abundant location is at The Apprentice Stone, northwest of Morthal. To make fishing easier, players can use the Unrelenting Force shout on the water which sends all fish to the surface. These fish will splash as well, making it easier for players to collect them. Players can also find the fish at The Abandoned Shack, due North of Morthal.
Snowberries are among the most commonly found flora in Skyrim. Players can find them in high quantities in snowy areas around the land such as Dawnstar or Winterhold, to name a few.
Players need only need to pick a few of the berries for the potion — about 5 or 6 berries will be enough to craft the potion required for the exploit. The Snowberries are the main ingredient in the Fortify Enchanting potion, but players will need one other component.
Blue Butterfly Wings
Players will need to collect a few Blue Butterfly Wings for the Fortify Enchanting potion, which they can find in areas with heavy vegetation. They are more commonly found in the farms outside the City of Whiterun. Alternatively, players can find them in the various clearing areas in the land, such as Mara's Eye Pond in Eastmarch or the Clearspring Tarn in The Rift.
If players have progressed to the point in the main quest of the Dawnguard DLC, they can also pick a few Ancestor Moths in the Ancestor Glade. These moths have the same alchemical effect as the butterflies.
Players can find this common mushroom in caves throughout Skyrim. They can also purchase it cheaply from alchemy vendors throughout the world, to use in a Fortify Smithing potion. Players only need a minimum of one Blisterwort, but it's best to gather quite a few.
Glowing Mushroom / Spriggan Sap
The second ingredient in the Fortify Smithing potion, players can acquire some Glowing Mushrooms on the outskirts of Bleak Falls Barrow. Alternatively, they can use Spriggan Sap, which can be bought from alchemy merchants.
Acquire Filled Grand Soul Gems
Soul Gems are typically bought from court wizards in the various holds of Skyrim. Players can use the services of any court wizard, but it is recommended that players talk to Farengar Secret-Fire in Whiterun as the Alchemy and Enchanting tables will be nearby, which players need afterward. They must buy Grand Soul Gems that are filled with Grand Souls.
Players need 6 or 7 of them in total, but vendors only have two or three filled Grand Soul Gems in stock at a time. Players can check other court wizards in Skyrim for more Soul Gems, or buy Empty Grand Soul Gems and fill them themselves.
To fill a Grand Soul Gem with a Grand Soul, players will need to kill Mammoths after casting the Soul Trap spell on them. Draugr Death Overlords also yield Grand Souls in the same way. Once players have enough, they can enchant their gear — so long as they know the right enchantments.
Acquire The Fortify Alchemy & Fortfy Smithing Enchantments
Players need to have at least 50 points in their Alchemy skill along with the Benefactor perk for this method to work. They can use the services of an alchemy trainer, or level up their skill by making different potions to get the required level.
The Dragonborn will also need to acquire the Fortify Alchemy and Fortify Smithing enchantments. If these are not already known, players can easily acquire gear with these enchantments the many blacksmiths and general goods merchants in the game, which they can disenchant to learn the enchantments.
Some side quests in the game also yield gear with these enchantments. For example, players can get the Ring Of Pure Mixtures from Frida's quest in Dawnstar that has a Fortify Alchemy enchantment on it.
Enchant Gear & Make A Restoration Potion
Once players have learned the enchantment, they must buy some gear which they will enchant with Fortify Alchemy. They will need a helmet, a pair of gauntlets, a necklace, and a ring. By using Grand Soul gems, the enchantment percentage will be the highest possible at this stage. Using other soul gems, however, will not yield the same result.
Equip the enchanted gear, and craft a Fortify Restoration potion using a Salt Pile and either a Cyrodilic Spadetail fish or the Abecean Longfin. The player must drink the potion, and then unequip the enchanted gear and then equip it again. Due to a glitch, the enchantments will now be stronger. Make another Fortify Restoration potion, and repeat the process until the enchantment percentage is at least in the millions. This will take around 30 potions, as described above.
Make A Fortify Enchanting Potion
Once the Fortify Alchemy enchantment percentage ranges in the millions, players must now make a Fortify Enchanting potion using a Snowberry, and either a Blue Butterfly Wing or an Ancestor Moth Wing. Technically only one potion is required, but having backups allows players to make powerful weapons later on as well.
Players must now drink one Fortify Enchantment potion. While under its effects, enchant one piece of gear with Fortify Alchemy. This allows players to make these potions later in the game without going through the entire process again. Finally, use this opportunity to enchant a few pieces of gear with the Fortify Smithing enchantment.
Make A Fortify Smithing Potion
To make a Fortify Smithing potion, players need Blisterwort and either a Glowing Mushroom or some Spriggan Sap. Players should acquire as many of these ingredients as they can, so that they can craft more potions later on in the game. For now, a single one should suffice — but don't drink it just yet.
Craft A Weapon
Next, players must go to a forge and craft a weapon they want to use. Alternatively, they can simply buy a high-quality weapon from a blacksmith for this purpose, in case they do not have the necessary points in Smithing.
Afterward, players must put on their gear with the Fortify Smithing enchantment, drink the smithing potion they made and then improve the weapon at a grindstone. If done correctly, they will see a damage output at or past the million marks. Players must keep in mind that if they increase the damage output too much, the output yield goes into a negative figure, and the game crashes.
